How to Restore a High Gloss Corian Countertop

DuPont Corian surface material comes in three levels of gloss. All sinks and most counter tops have a matte finish, while some counters have a semi-gloss or even a high-gloss finish. Although Dupont designed Corian to be long-lasting and easy-care, soap residues can dull a high-gloss Corian finish over time. Hard water deposits can also create blotches and dullness. However, proper care can restore the shine to your Corian counters.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean your high-gloss Corian surface with soapy water or an ammonia-type cleaner. Another option is a commercial cleaner specifically made for counter tops.

    • 2

Rinse the counter top thoroughly and wipe completely dry.

    • 3

Remove hard water deposits with a lime remover. Follow directions, rinse and wipe dry.

    • 4

Remove other hard-to-remove residue with Deep Cleaner for DuPont Corian. This special product is available from Stone Care International. Rinse and dry completely to avoid leaving water marks.

    • 5

Remove blotches or very fine scratches with a liquid soft abrasive cleaner. Hard water left on the counter often creates this scratchy look. Apply the cleaning product using a soft cloth. Clean in circles, rinse and dry thoroughly.

    • 6

Maintain the glossy finish of your Corian surface by always rinsing and drying it completely.
