How to Remove Scratches From a Staron Countertop

Staron from Samsung is a sanitary and nonabsorbent surface material that provides a smooth and continuous area for countertops. With proper care, your Staron counterop will last a long time. If your countertop incurs major damage or deep scratches, Samsung advises against trying to fix it yourself. Instead, you should contact a certified Staron installer for refininshing. However, if your Staron counter has developed minor scratches with normal use, you can remove them yourself using a few simple materials.

Instructions

  1. Matt or Satin Finish

    • 1

Apply baking soda or a commercial soft-scrubbing cleanser to a wet Scotch-Brite green pad.

    • 2

Rub the scratched area with the pad using circular movements. Scrub lightly if you have a satin finish. Scrubbing too hard can damage a satin finish.

    • 3

Continue rubbing over the entire counter surface to blend the color evenly.

    • 4

      Rinse thoroughly.

    Gloss Finish

    • 5

Spray an ammonia-type cleaner or other nonabrasive cleaner on the Staron glossy surface, and allow it to work for several minutes.

    • 6

Wet an ordinary sponge. Do not use an abrasive cleaning sponge.

    • 7

Rub in gentle circles with the wet sponge. Hard scrubbing reduces the shine.

    • 8

Rinse the surface completely with clean water, and buff dry with a soft towel or cleaning cloth.

    • 9

Apply a nonsilicone compound for countertops to restore the shine and hide any remaining scratches. Follow the product directions. Do not use any polish or wax that contains silicone or citrus extracts. These products make the surface look duller.
