How to Cover the Nail Holes From Paintings

Using nails to hang paintings on your wall is the most common way to display works of art. However, when moving a painting, this results having to cover the nail hole that was left behind. Fortunately, the damage to your wall is minor and can be fixed without the need of an expensive professional.

Things You'll Need

  • Disposable rag
  • Warm water
  • Soap
  • Jar color putty
  • Spatula
  • Putty knife
  • Fine grit Sand paper

Instructions

    • 1

      Dip disposable rag in warm soapy water, and wash the area surrounding the nail hole. Allow the area to dry.

      Apply color putty to nail hole using the spatula.

    • 3

      Scrape away excess putty with putty knife. Color putty will turn white when dry.

      Sand the area with fine-grit sandpaper.
