How to Fix a Garage Door Hinge

Garage doors consist of a series of panels connected together with hinges. The hinges allow the door to bend as it goes up and down the track when it is raised and lowered.      Lower the garage door completely. Grasp the hinges with your fingers and see if the position can be adjusted. If a hinge can move, the bolts have worked loose and should be tightened.

     Select a socket that fits the bolt head on the hinge bolts.

     Slide the hinge so that it is aligned vertically straight up and down. Tighten the bolts until the hinge cannot slide back and forth.
