Squirt the caulk removal product evenly over the silicone caulk tand coat it completely. Cover the treated caulk with a layer of plastic wrap to seal in the caulk remover chemicals to facilitate removal.
Allow the caulk remover and the plastic wrap to sit on the caulk for about 24 to 48 hours. This setting time enables the removal product to sufficiently soften the silicone.
Remove a corner of the plastic to assess the caulk after about 24 hours. If the caulk seems sufficiently soft and pulls away easily from the shower surfaces, proceed with the removal. If the caulk does not pull away easily, cover it again and wait another 24 hours.
Remove the plastic and discard. Position the blade of a utility knife over the caulk line and slice through the caulk firmly along the entire surface.
Pull the softened and sliced caulk away from the shower surface with a needle-nose pliers. Discard the caulk pieces in the trash as you remove them. Continue working with the needle-nose pliers until you remove all the caulk from the shower.
Spray soap scum cleaner over the area and brush vigorously with a toothbrush to clean it out. Rinse away the cleaner with plain water.
Spray mildew cleaner over the area and brush vigorously again with the toothbrush to remove any mildew that may be present on the shower surface and in the crevices. Rinse away the cleaner with plain water. Dry the area well with a towel.
