How to Stop a Frameless Shower Door From Leaking

A frameless shower door is a shower door that is glass or plastic and appears to hover just above the shower floor framing. The sides of the shower are often glass as well. The door, which is supported by hinges on one side, doesn't have metal or plastic framing. While this can look aesthetically pleasing, the lack of framing means there can be a small gap between the side and bottom of the shower door. The bottom is most prone to leaking since water can pool near the bottom of the door when someone takes a shower.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean and wipe down the door especially on the door handle side edge and the bottom edge of the door.

    • 2

Measure the length of the bottom of the door. Measure the thickness of the bottom of the door. Choose a vinyl door wipe with a matching thickness.

    • 3

Cut the vinyl door wipe to the length of the bottom of the door. Clip the vinyl wipe onto the bottom of the door so that the thin "wiper" section is hanging downward. Proceed to Step 4 if water leaks from the side of the door as well.

    • 4

Measure the height from top to bottom of the one edge of the door, the side with the handle on it. Measure the thickness and choose a vinyl wipe with the same thickness.

    • 5

Cut the wipe the same length as the door height. Attach the wipe so that the "wiper" section is facing away from the door. Open and close the door to ensure the wipe does not stick.
