My Bosch SHX36L15UC Door Is Leaking

Bosch SHX36L dishwashers are popular energy-saving and water-saving kitchen appliances. Energy-efficient and water-efficient Bosch washing machines use 72 percent less energy and 76 percent less water than conventional models. However, with time and use, any appliance can develop a leak or operational problem. Bosch appliances are quite basic in design and parts are readily available.
  1. Faulty Door Seal

    • If moisture is present around the door of your dishwasher, shut the unit off, open the door and close it again carefully. It may have had an item lodged in the door frame, or it may have been knocked out of alignment. Use a soft towel to dry the wet area completely. Start the washer again, and observe whether the same area again shows evidence of a leak. If so, make note of the spot and shut off the dishwasher and allow to drain.

The leak may result from damage or wear to the door seal. To function properly, the door seal should be firm, resilient and without visible cracks or damage. If damage is evident, a new door seal can be purchased online or from your appliance dealer.

Locate the Source of the Leak

    • If you notice water pooling on the floor at the base of your Bosch dishwasher, try to determine whether the water is leaking out of the door or is coming from under the unit. Remove the toe panel at the bottom of the front of the unit. Run the dishwasher as usual and observe to pinpoint the leak. If leaking, stop the dishwasher at any time by pushing the power button.

    Clean Filters

    • Clean the filters of your washing machine frequently. If the machine drain is not functioning properly and is blocked by bits of food and debris, the water cannot drain correctly. Make sure the drain is clear and not clogged by some small item or debris that has worked its way into the drain. Calcium and lime deposits can build up over time and plug the drain, causing the machine to overflow and leak.

    Model Number

    • Locate the model number on the top or inside lip of your Bosch dishwasher. You will need the number if you need to order parts or call a Bosch service center for advice. A Bosch service manual can be purchased online.

    Safety First

    • The most important thing to remember in appliance repair is "safety first." Always disconnect an appliance from the electrical power source before attempting to dismantle, troubleshoot or repair.
