Instructions

    • 1

Go outside of your home and shut off the main water valve beside the water meter for your house.

    • 2

Use a flathead screwdriver to remove an existing faucet from the shower faucet assembly, if applicable. The screw on the faucet may be covered by a concealing button or seal depending on your faucet model. Pry under this button, if it exists, with the edge of the flathead screwdriver to remove it. Remove the screw with your screwdriver.

    • 3

Pull the faucet head off the faucet assembly. There may be an additional, hidden screw under the faucet. If so, remove this screw with your screwdriver, and pull the head completely off.

    • 4

Use a screwdriver to unscrew the metal flange on the valve assembly that lies beneath the handle. Pull the valve assembly out, and the water cartridge will come out with it.

    • 5

Slide a new, replacement water cartridge into the area on the rear of the valve assembly that the previous cartridge occupied. Slide the valve assembly back into place on the faucet assembly and screw the metal flange over it.

    • 6

Replace the existing faucet head with your Pex shower faucet. Insert the screws that came with the Pex faucet into the new faucet over the flange, using a screwdriver. Depending on your model of Pex shower faucet, there may be a screw to insert under the handle in addition to the exterior screw.

    • 7

Tighten the screws fully using your screwdriver.

    • 8

Pop the button or seal onto the outer screw using your fingers.

    • 9

Turn your main water valve back on.
