How to Replace Rubbed off Numbers on a GE Profile Cooktop

Grease and food from your stovetop can settle on your GE Profile cooktop and cover it in a layer of grime. Constantly wiping off the grime and using cleaning solutions can eventually cause the display numbers around the burner knobs to rub off. Replace the numbers once you notice they are beginning to rub off. Purchase appliance touch-up paint directly from General Electric.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the knobs and cooktop grates by pulling them straight off the cooktop.

    • 2

Spray the entire cooktop surface with an all-purpose cleaner that will remove any grease and grime on the surface. Wipe the cooktop with a paper towel and let the area air dry for several minutes.

    • 3

Place a number stencil over the area on the cooktop where you would like to place the numbers.

    • 4

Dab the stove paint directly over the stencil with a paintbrush. Apply a thick layer of paint, as it is difficult to apply two coats evenly. Lift the stencil off and let the paint dry to the touch. Repeat until you’ve replaced all of the numbers.
