How to Remove Sheetrock Around Glass Blocks

Use a chisel to test the mortar around the glass block. It should be cement mortar, but if it's caulk or another more flexible mortar, you can remove it by hand.

Chip away at the mortar carefully using a chisel and hammer. You need to chisel enough away to get a pry bar or the claw end of a hammer underneath the drywall.

Insert your pry bar gently, but firmly between the glass block and the drywall, once some of the mortar is chiseled away. The glass blocks should still be secure on the other sides to the other glass blocks.

Pry up the edge of the drywall with the prybar or hammer until you can start removing it with your hands.

Unscrew the drywall from the studs using a power drill. You will not be able to unscrew it until you see where the drywall is attached.

Place the drywall pieces directly into large contractor bags to keep the dust down.
