How to Connect a Door Bell

Door bells, also called door chimes, once required intricate electrical wiring for installation. Modern wireless versions are inexpensive and can be quickly installed by the novice handyman. Wireless door chime kits include a transmitter that is activated by a button switch and a receiver that activates the chime when the button is pushed. Wireless door chimes are available in a wide price range with different styles and available features. Most include mounting plates that are screwed onto a wall. The button and chimes are then screwed or snapped onto the mounting hardware. The installation process depends on the style of the chime kit and the manufacturer.
