Instructions

    • 1

Clean the surface onto which you will install the DuraCeramic tiles with soapy water. Scrub the surface thoroughly with a soft-bristled brush to loosen and remove wax, grease, dust, dirt and contaminants that can prevent the base of the tiles from adhering to the surface.

    • 2

Place a level across the surface to check whether it is flat and even. Ideally, the level should not vary more than 1/16 inch per every inch of space. Grind high spots down with sandpaper, or fill low spots with surface filler compound.

    • 3

Locate the center point of each wall surrounding the floor where you want to install the tiles. Mark the spot on the wall with pencil. Snap a chalk line from the center mark on each wall to the opposite wall, ensuring they intersect at right angles. Adjust the center lines and repeat the process if the lines do not intersect at right angles.

    • 4

Lay the DuraCeramic tiles along the inner edge of each quadrant on the floor, so you have two rows of tiles that go across the room in two directions, forming a cross. Both the rows should meet at the center chalk line. If required, form cutting lines over the last tile in each row. Score along the line with a utility knife and press down over the line so it snaps. Remove all the tiles from the floor.

    • 5

Apply the tile adhesive supplied with the tiles over one quadrant of the room, using a notched trowel. Leave the adhesive to dry for 40 minutes so it turns tacky.

    • 6

Lower a tile over the intersecting chalk lines in the center of the floor, pressing the tile lightly into place in the first quadrant so it adheres to the adhesive. Repeat this process of installing tiles along the center and moving outward toward the wall of each quadrant, until the floor is tiled.

Roll the tiles with a 100-pound roller an hour after installation.
