How to Troubleshoot Quadra-Fire Natural Gas Fireplace

Quadra-Fire uses a patented process that claims to burn fuel cleaner and more efficiently than other fireplace systems. The process burns gas four times in different areas of the firebox to reduce toxins released into the air. If your Quadra-Fire natural gas fireplace fails to ignite or burn properly, troubleshooting could allow you to fix problems without the expense of a service call.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the gas valves on the line leading to your Quadra-Fire fireplace. There may be more than one valve on the line. Follow the line from the fireplace to the main to ensure all valves are open.

    • 2

Light the pilot manually with a match or lighter. If you are able to light the pilot, this would indicate a problem with the igniter. Check the wiring on the igniter to ensure it is not loose or disconnected. Press the igniter button as you watch the pilot. When you see a spark, the igniter is working properly. A faulty igniter needs replacing.

    • 3

Tighten the thermocouple if the flame keeps going out. The thermocouple is two wires welded together near the pilot. Turn the thermocouple clockwise one-quarter turn to tighten it. If the problem continues, the thermocouple may need replacing.

    • 4

Turn the switch for the burner to the on position if the pilot light is working, but there is no fire. If you find the switch is already on, check the connections going to the switch to determine if they are sound. Tighten any connections that may be loose.

Clear any blockage on the burner that could prevent gas flow. Consult your model's instructions.
