How to Adjust Hanssem Cabinets

Hanssem is a maker of high-end residential cabinets for use in kitchens, bathrooms and storage areas. Hanssem cabinets, like other key remodeling projects, add value to the homes. However, this value is diminished if the cabinets are damaged or operate poorly. Hanssem cabinets are not supposed to require any maintenance from homeowners. However, they are susceptible to water damage. Any type of cabinet can require a hinge adjustment or tightening if it was installed incorrectly.

Instructions

    • 1

Empty out the cabinet that requires adjustment. Look for evidence of water damage such as discoloration and standing water.

    • 2

Soak up any standing water with a sponge. Wipe the cabinet interior dry with a cotton cloth.

    • 3

Leave the cabinet open to air dry. Set up a box fan in the room if necessary.

    • 4

Inspect the cabinet's hardware, including hinges, drawer rails and sliders. Remove any debris with a clean cotton cloth.

    • 5

Place a carpenter's level against the doors and frames of cabinets that need adjustment. Identify and note which pieces of the cabinets aren't level.

    • 6

Loosen the hinges on non-level cabinet doors using a screwdriver. Position the cabinet door so it is level and tighten the screws.
