Scratch Removal From Marbelite Vanity Tops

Clean the scratched area of the Marbleite top well. Spray or pour on a small amount of nonabrasive cleaner and buff the area clean with a soft cloth. Rinse well and dry thoroughly.

Apply a small amount of automotive polishing compound to any lightly scratched areas on the Marbleite. Rub the compound in with a soft cloth until the surface of the vanity top is hazy and dull in appearance.

Place a wool buffing pad on a high-speed buffer and work the buffer over the scratched area on the vanity top. Stop periodically to examine the scratched area. Stop buffing when the scratches can no longer be seen.

Sand down any very deep scratches before buffing them. Pour a small amount of water onto the scratched area and fit a handheld orbital sander with 800-grit sandpaper. Work the sander over the scratched area until the scratches can no longer be felt with your fingertips. Apply polishing compound and buff the scratched area until it appears identical to the rest of the surrounding Marblelite.

Rub a small amount of gel coat into the entire surface of the Marblelite. Gel coats are specially made wax for cultured marble products. They will restore the shine of the entire vanity top and help protect the surface from small scratches and abrasions. Periodically clean the Marblelite top using a gel coat to help minimize the appearance of shallow scratches in between restorations.
