Maintain ventilation by opening doors and windows as wide as possible.
Use a box fan in a window or doorway to exhaust vapors away from the work area. Direct the fan outdoors, making sure it is not pointed toward any living space.
Take breaks from painting and breath fresh air frequently.
Keep children and adults with breathing problems away from the work area, preferably out of the house. Provide advance notice of the painting project to household members and neighbors, especially if they have walls adjoining the garage.
Maintain adequate ventilation of the work area for two to three days following painting or until you are certain that air quality has returned to normal. Paint may dry slower and cure more slowly when the humidity is higher because of rain.
