Painting With Valspar Brilliant Metals

Base Coat

• Apply a base coat of interior semigloss paint in a color similar to the Brilliant Metals shade you have chosen. Allow the base coat to dry overnight.

Cut-In

• Cut-in the borders of the room with Brilliant Metals. Brush 2 to 3 inches around the ceiling, floor, trim and corners. Work in sections, cutting-in borders, then immediately roll the adjacent wall areas to prevent a banded appearance.

Rolling

• Load the roller with paint. Visualize each wall in 2-foot-wide sections and roll each section in an up-and-down motion only. Do not roll from side to side. Do not add pressure to the roller while painting. Without loading more paint into the roller, finish each section with single, long, ceiling-to-floor strokes.

Second Coat

• Allow at least four hours before applying a second coat. Cut-in is not necessary. Maintain the same up-and-down roller motion for the second coat. Expect the finish of the second coat to appear uneven until it is fully dry.
