How to Adhere Casing to Stucco

Stucco is a mixture of Portland cement and sand, and when it is applied to a surface, it creates a textured surface. While this textured surface is attractive in its own right, you may wish to have some casing around your windows or as horizontal or vertical trim on stucco walls. When applying trim or casing directly over stucco, choose a foam casing that resembles wood or metal. This allows the stucco to support the casing easily.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Apply a long S-shaped stream of construction adhesive to the back of your foam casing. The S-shape allows the adhesive to firmly stick the casing to the wall.

    • 2

Press the casing to the stucco surface firmly.

    • 3

Tape the casing to the stucco with masking tape to hold it in place as the adhesive cures.

    • 4

Allow the adhesive to cure thoroughly. Typically, this takes 24 hours.

    • 5

Push stucco patch into any small gaps between the casing and the wall using a putty knife.

    • 6

Scrape away any excess stucco patch using the putty knife.
