Standard Sizes for Acrylic Corner Shower Pans

Acrylic corner shower pans come in a variety of sizes, but there are some standard sizes most manufacturers have. These standard sizes are also stocked by many tub and shower retailers since they are more common. The size of your pan will relate to your bathroom and your space needs, so consider this before choosing any corner shower pan.
  1. Smallest Corner Showers

    • The smallest corner shower pans measure 32 inches square. This is the measurement of each side of the shower base and it is exactly 2 1/2 feet. At this size, the user has just enough room to shower and turn around inside the stall. It does not allow substantial room for shaving or performing any other grooming actions aside from washing inside the shower. This is a good choice for very small bathrooms with very little space.

    Midsized Showers

    • A midsized corner shower base measures 36 inches square. This is a common sized shower base and usually stocked in home repair and improvement outlets. The 36-inch shower base has sides that are exactly 36 inches wide, which is 3 feet. With this type of shower pan, the individual using the shower can turn around more easily and can shave and groom in the shower.

    Large Shower Pans

    • Larger corner shower pans measure 38 inches, 42 inches or 48 inches. The most common are the 38- and 42-inch variety. With an additional 6 inches of space, shaving in the shower is much easier and the user has more room to turn around. A shower seat may be installed in these showers as well, if the user requires one. In many cases, these shower pans have a neo-angle entrance to cut down on their space impact to the bathroom.

    Considerations

    • When choosing a shower pan size, consider the space you have available in your bathroom. You need to have room outside the shower to walk around, so substantial space between your toilet and shower is a necessity. Installing a 38-inch versus a 32-inch shower pan will impact your space. The large pan does take up an additional 6 inches of space on both walls, so the bathroom must be able to handle the additional square footage.
