Remove the lampshade from the lamp. Clean the lampshade with a soft brush attached to a vacuum. Inspect the damage to the lampshade. Carefully remove the old tape from the top of the lamp. Take out the wire ring and set aside. Use scissors to trim off any frayed or loose threads from the lampshade.

Measure the circumference of the top of the Stiffel lampshade. Add an extra ½ inch to the measurement. Cut two lengths of the double-folded bias tape to equal this measurement. Ring the outer top of the lampshade with glue. Put one strip of double-folded bias tape along the ring of glue surrounding the top of the lampshade. Press the double-folded bias tape gently against the glue to adhere. Overlap the last ½ inch and adhere with the glue.

Insert the wire ring into the lampshade with the widest part in first. Use the glue gun to place a ring of hot-glue around the inside top of the lampshade. Cover any sections of the wire ring with glue that touch the lampshade.
