How to Enclose Basement Poles

A basement pole distracts the eye when you are looking to finish the basement. The bare wood or steel pole creates a harsh line that cuts through the basement’s appearance. Beautify your basement pole using a flexible pole wrap. Measure the height of your pole to ensure that your pole wrap will completely enclose your basement pole and introduce a new and harmonious element to your basement decor.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the diameter of the pole using a measuring tape.

    • 2

Cut a length of appropriately sized pole wrap that matches the measurement you found in Step 1 using a fine-toothed saw. Buy a pole wrap that is roughly as tall as your pole.

    • 3

Apply construction adhesive to the pole by placing rows of glue dots around the post. Space the rows every foot.

    • 4

Wrap the pole wrap around the pole, bringing the ends together.

    • 5

Secure the pole wrap to the pole using cable ties. The cable ties hold the wrap to the pole as the adhesive cures. The amount of time necessary for the adhesive to cure is written on the packaging.
