Measure each wall in the room where the tile will be installed. Use a pencil to mark the center point of each wall.
Run a chalk line between the center point of two opposing walls. Snap the chalk line against the floor to draw the line. Do this for all four walls to create two perpendicular chalk lines that intersect at the middle of the room.
Place a tile spacer at the point where the two lines intersect and arrange four brick tiles around the spacer. Start at this center point and move out toward the walls.
Mix thin-set mortar mix and water in a bucket. Follow the mixing directions on the bag to determine how much water will need to be added to the mix. Use a trowel to mix the mortar.
Lift each of the four tiles and the spacer and use a trowel to apply a quarter-inch layer of thin-set mortar to the subfloor. Replace the spacer and the four tiles at the center point of the room. Press the spacer and the tiles into the thin-set mortar.
Place a level on top of the tiles to ensure they're level. If necessary, press a tile deeper into the mortar or lift the tile and add a bit more mortar to raise the level of the tile.
Place tile spacers in the corners of each tile, in the channels that run between the tiles. There must be a tile spacer at the point where four tiles meet.
Spread a quarter-inch layer of mortar around the four tiles and place additional tiles around the four at the center of the room, using the tile spacers as a guide. Continue this process, working out toward the walls.
Cut the faux brick tiles to size if there's insufficient room to fit a full tile between the outermost row of tiles and the wall. Place the tile on the cutter and slide the scoring tool across the tile. Snap the tile along the scored line.
Allow the mortar to set. The setting time varies according to the specific product, so consult the mortar packaging to determine the recommended setting time.
Mix grout powder and water in a bucket. Consult the grout packaging to determine how much water should be added to the product. Mix with a trowel.
Apply grout between the tiles. Wipe the grout over the tiles with a trowel. Wipe it in several different directions to press the mortar into the gap between the faux brick tiles. Use a trowel to wipe it off the surface of the tiles, then remove the grout from the grooves in the textured tiles with a wet scrub brush, dipped in a bucket of water. Wipe away residue from the tile surface with a damp rag.
Allow the grout to set. Consult the product packaging to determine the recommended drying time. Normal foot traffic can resume once the grout sets.
