Bend the pole back into place with a rubber mallet if it is metal and if it warped. Metal poles can be bent back and then rehung with an additional support in the warped section to keep it straight.
Apply epoxy glue to both pieces of the rod if it is broken. Wood glue also works well on a wooden pole.
Press and hold the two pieces together or clamp them with a vise until they dry. Wipe away any excess glue with a rag.
Drill two screws into the pole, one on each side of the break, with the screws pointing toward each other at the center of the break. The screws further help hold the pole together.
Remove the clamp and rehang the pole. Screw another bracket into the wall at the stud closest to the point of the break and secure the bracket to the pole. Use a stud finder to locate the closest stud in the wall. The bracket either screws in as well or it drops into the bracket and gravity holds it in place.
