Pull the red release cord that hangs from the garage door's overhead assembly. This will disengage the motorized function of the door and set it in manual mode so that you can assemble and install a new garage door chain.
Lay the new garage door chain out on the ground in front of you. Locate the tension bolt. Ensure the side of the chain this bolt is on faces the garage door.
Loosen the tension nut once the chain is positioned properly. Use a socket wrench to loosen the nut but do not take the nut out of the chain completely.
Attach the Quantum garage door opener's chain to your garage door via the door's pulley bar. The pulley bar is on the garage's overhead assembly. Run the chain along the bar and wrap it around the pulley at the end and keep tension along the chain as you wrap it. A friend's help can aid in this process and keep tension on the chain as you set it in place on the pulley bar.
Tighten the tension bolt on the chain's end with the socket wrench once the chain is in place. Twist the socket wrench clockwise to tighten the bolt. Continue tightening until the chain is taut and does not sag at any point along the pulley bar.
Push the button on your electronic garage door opener. This will deactivate the emergency release rope and finish the installation.
