Open your Chamberlain garage door.
Position a step ladder under the overhead garage assembly. This is the garage door opener motor. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws holding the motor's cover in place. Remove the cover.
Adjust the limit screw with a flathead screwdriver in order to fix the limit switch on the Chamberlain garage door. The limit screw is located on the limit switch on the back of the Chamberlain's motor head. The limit switch is characterized by two white knobs with the screwdriver slot in between. Twist the screwdriver counterclockwise to increase the distance the garage door travels when opening and closing, or twist it clockwise to decrease the distance. Every full turn from the flathead screwdriver will correct the garage door's travel by about 3 inches.
Press the garage door opener button to test the door. If the door does not reach the floor upon closing, adjust the limit switch with more clockwise twists from the flathead screwdriver. If the door reaches the garage floor but immediately reverses and reopens, adjust the limit switch with counterclockwise twists. Continue making adjustments until the garage door opens and closes properly.
Use your Phillips screwdriver to reconnect the cover to the overhead garage assembly.
