How to Install a Tank Toilet from Flushometer

The Flushometer toilet features two main sections: the bowl and the tank. Each of these sections must be installed together and tightened properly into place, and the water supply flow must be activated before the toilet can be put to use. You can avoid expensive consultation with a professional and install the Flushometer toilet yourself, even if you lack an extensive selection of tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Put a cloth down on the floor near the installation area. Place the base or bowl section of the toilet onto the cloth so that its bottom faces upward toward you.

    • 2

Locate the opening on the Flushometer's bottom. Apply the included Flushometer wax ring to this area. The wax ring's rounded edge needs to face inward and must be pushed forcefully against the bowl until it sticks and stays in place.

    • 3

Turn the base of the Flushometer toilet back over. Locate the two bolts sticking upright and extending out of the floor in the installation area. These "Johnny-bolts" lie directly across from each other, and the back of the bowl section needs to lie parallel to an imaginary horizontal line drawn from bolt to bolt. Put the toilet bowl section down onto the installation area so that it's aligned in this manner and so that the pre-made holes on the toilet allow for the entry of the bolts. Thread the bolts through these holes.

    • 4

Take the Flushometer toilet's included nuts and washers and tighten them over the bolts using a wrench.

    • 5

Install the second section of the toilet. Place this tank section over the already installed bowl section. Line the tank up so that the plastic bolts located on its base insert directly into the pre-made holes on the Flushometer toilet bowl's top.

    • 6

Lower the tank section into place and tighten all the screws on the outer bottom of the tank with your Phillips screwdriver.

    • 7

Hook up the Flushometer toilet's water supply valve. Insert the valve into the toilet's tank area via the hose line and a coupling on the tank. Tighten the coupling with a socket wrench once the hose has been inserted into it.

Locate the Flushometer toilet's water supply valve on the rear of the toilet's base. Twist the valve counterclockwise to get the water flowing into the toilet.
