Access the water shut-off valve on the bottom rear of the GE French door refrigerator by moving the fridge slightly away from the wall. The water supply tube can be seen running into this valve, and the valve has a distinctive handle on it that controls the water supply. Turn this handle counterclockwise to activate the shut off valve.
Remove the GE French door refrigerator's power cord from the power outlet.
Open the bottom freezer drawer and remove the ice bin from the ice maker assembly by sliding it out.
Remove the screws along the top and bottom of the GE ice maker assembly using your 1/4-inch screwdriver.
Move the ice maker assembly out just far enough to access the electrical harness pieces at the rear. One harness comes out of the back of the assembly while the other harness is at the rear of the freezer compartment. The two are joined together by two clasps, one on each of the harnesses. Press the clasps together to dislodge them.
Pull out the GE French door refrigerator's ice maker assembly and slide the new one into place.
Press the electrical harness clasp of the new ice maker into the clasp on the back of the freezer drawer.
Reinsert the screws into the ice maker using your 1/4-inch screwdriver. Refer to your specific ice maker assembly's manual for exact screw placement.
Turn the fridge's water valve handle clockwise, and plug the unit's power cord back in.
