How to Install a GE Security Key Cabinet Pro

Keeping all your keys on a single key ring or placing them in various places throughout your house can become burdensome. The GE Security Key Cabinet Pro enables you to place all of your keys in one secure place. The Key Cabinet Pro mounts to your wall and requires a secret key code to open. Installing the Key Cabinet Pro requires you to drill four holes in the wall and to program the code you wish to use.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the battery compartment located on the top right side of the cabinet. Insert four AA batteries according to the positive and negative charge shown in the compartment. Close the battery compartment.

    • 2

Press the following numbers in order: “1,” “2,” “3,” “4” and “5.” Press the circular button below the numbers and the cabinet door will open.

    • 3

Locate and open the small panel on the bottom inside of the cabinet. Two predrilled screw holes will appear, matching the holes at the top of the cabinet.

    • 4

Press the cabinet against the wall, where you wish to hang it. Mark a small dot with a pencil in each of the four predrilled holes. Take the cabinet off the wall.

    • 5

Insert a 3/8-inch drill bit into your drill. Press the drill bit against one of the pencil marks and drill a pilot hole. Do this for the remaining three holes. Because of the mounting system, it’s not necessary to find a stud. If you do drill into a stud, you’ll feel more resistance through the drill.

    • 6

Line up a provided plastic wall anchor with one of the holes. Place the tip of the anchor in the hole. Once inside the wall, hammer the anchor. The anchor is correctly installed once it is flat against the face of the wall -- it should not stick out. Repeat this procedure for the remaining three anchors.

    • 7

Place the cabinet against the wall again, matching the predrilled holes with the installed wall anchors. With either a screwdriver or a drill, secure a screw into each of the four mounting holes. Snap a provided screw cover onto each screw, blending the screws in with the rest of the cabinet. Close the cabinet door.

Press and hold “1” on the number pad for three seconds. Enter the same code as you did before to open the cabinet door, then enter your desired code. Hold “1” again for three seconds to add the code. Enter your code again to complete the installation.
