Fenix Flashlight Comparison

Those of us who love to see a bright, bold swath of light cutting through the dark delight in a sturdy and powerful flashlight. For such enthusiasts, the Chinese company Fenix makes premiere flashlights, the kind you can rely on during a sudden urban power outage or in a cave. The Fenix line uses LED illumination, and most of the flashlights have different brightness settings, strobe, flashers or an SOS feature, depending on the model. LED products, including these flashlights, tend to have long a battery life. The flashlights are waterproof to a depth of two meters.
  1. TA Series

    • Two flashlights belong to the TA series, and they are rich with features. The TA21 lets you choose 12 different settings, nine of them increasing the lumen output from four through 225 lumens (one lumen has a brightness of a candle one foot away); the last three settings providing a strobe, a flasher and an SOS. The TA20 is designed for hunters, has a strobe and three lumen settings of four, 50 and 225 lumens. Both lights have beams that reach over 200 meters.

    TK Series

    • The TK series boasts 14 flashlights. Some can be used for outdoor searches, others for camping or hunting and some for tactical use. An example of a search flashlight is the TK70, which has a whopping maximum output of 2,200 lumens that shine out to 720 meters. The TK30 is useful for camping and made special by an extension tube. The tube converts the flashlight from 370 to 630 maximum lumens and increases the distance the flashlight shines. The T21 also has a special feature, a remote switch that Fenix says is useful for tactical uses and for hunting. It's maximum lumen output is 449.

    PD Series

    • The PD series is primarily for everyday use, camping and biking. Both uses, Fenix explains, demand long run times and need a wide flood beam to reveal trails and outdoor areas. The series line also features a small size. At the top of the line is the PD32 with a maximum lumen output of 315. The other end of the line is the diminutive P1 CE, which can fit in the palm of the hand and shines at 60 lumens.

    LD Series

    • Like the PD series, flashlights in the LD line are mostly for everyday use, camping or biking. The LD40 features a neutral white color as it shines with a maximum of 248 lumens. The LD series also contains penlight flashlights. The LD05 penlight has 100 lumens maximum while the even smaller L0D Q4 has a maximum of 75 lumens.

    E Series

    • The E series is primarily for everyday use, though some entries can also be used for camping and biking. As befits a flashlight you'd want handy, the E01 can hang on a keychain, comes in several colors and weighs only 14 grams. Its output is 13 lumens. The E21 is the heartiest in the series, with a 135-lumen output. It shines to a distance of 141 meters.
