Place roofing paper and steel mesh on the floor of the showering area and tack it in place with tack nails and a hammer. Remove the material over the drain hole with metal snips and a razor, and attach the bottom part of the drain to the floor with the drain mounting bolts, provided with your shower drain.
Make a batch of sand mix that is easily molded into balls by hand. Spread this mixture over the steel mesh with a masonry trowel. Press the mixture into a bed that slopes towards the drain hole in the shower floor. Let the bed dry and cure for at least 24 hours.
Spread the shower liner material across the shower bed, folding the corners and tacking it to the wall framing with hammer and nails. Cut off the excess shower liner material with a razor and discard it.
Spread more sand mix over the liner and with the hand trowel, form the top layer of the concrete shower bed using the hand trowel. Make this layer follow the same consistent grade as the layer beneath it. Allow for 24 hours of drying time for this layer before walking on the shower bed.
