Locate the home's main drainage stack, which is a 4-inch wide PVC pipe and find the connection to the bathroom drain pipe. Look for the pipe branching off to the bathroom from the stack.
Find a spot on the bathroom drain pipe to install the vent. It will require about a foot of space. Mark and cut through the bathroom drain pipe with a hack saw once you have located the ideal location for the vent. Or, if the drain line to the new bathroom is not yet installed, skip this step and move on.
Connect a t-fitting to the bathroom pipe and the home's main drain stack. Use a reducing fitting the connects 4-inch pipe to 2-inch pipe to connect the different sized pipes. Do not apply PVC cement yet.
Install the vent in the fitting, by pushing it into the middle inlet on the t-fitting. Position the vent so it is cleared of any obstructions if applicable in your home. Disassemble the fitting and vent.
Apply PVC cement around the edge of the pipes, vent and the t-fitting. Install the fitting and vent once again and allow four to eight hours for drying time, or as your manufacturer's label recommends.
