How to Adjust a Bifold Louvered Door

A bifold louvered door, like any other bifold door, has two hinge pins on the top and bottom that allow the door to open and close. These pins mount into hardware that is adjustable. Depending on how the door currently hangs, you have to loosen and move this hardware to make your adjustments. If your louvered door sticks or rubs at the top of bottom of the door jamb, this fix is for you and only takes 10 minutes.

Close the door and note how it is hung. Note whether it slants toward the bottom or top of the door jamb on each side.

Open the door you need to adjust. Loosen the screw in the top mounting bracket with a screwdriver and slide the pivot hinge to one side or the other to fix the slant. Pushing the hinge away from the side to which it slants will properly adjust the door. Tighten the screw after adjusting the position of the hardware.

Close the door again. Look at it to determine if it is properly adjusted. Open the door and readjust the top as necessary. You can also lift the bottom hinge off the bottom support bracket and push the hinge left or right to adjust the bottom of the door as necessary. If the bottom rubs against the door jamb, move the pivot hinge away from the jamb. If there is too much space between the jamb and door, move the hinge toward the jamb.

Continue to adjust the pivot hinges as necessary until you are satisfied with the way your door is hung.
