How to Attach a Hose to an Ultrasonic Humidifier

An ultrasonic humidifier distributes water into the air by using a metal diaphragm that vibrates at ultrasonic frequencies -- hence its name. The vibrating piece breaks up the water in the humidifier tank into a cloud of moisture that then blows into the air. Ultrasonic models are usually quieter than other types and are simple to use. While smaller models sit on the floor or a tabletop, industrial models are often installed into the wall and utilize a hose to deliver the water. This hose requires attachment during installation.

Things You'll Need

  • Silicone sealant
  • Flex clamp (normally included with the unit)

Instructions

    • 1

Rub a silicone sealant over the outlet collar of the humidifier, which is the section of tubing sticking out of the humidifier where the hose attaches. The location of the collar on the unit varies, depending on your specific model.

    • 2

Run the hose through a flex clamp and slide both the clamp and the hose over the outlet collar.

    • 3

Tighten the flex clamp so it holds the outside of the hose tightly against the outlet collar. Once the silicone dries, the sealant and the clamp help prevent water from leaking.
