How to Change the Color of Non-Sanded Grout Once It Is Installed

Grout is useful for providing structural support to the tiles in your floors and walls but it also serves a decorative purpose as well. Anyone who's ever seen moldy shower grout knows how important it is aesthetically to keep the grout clean and looking its best. The good news is you can alter the color of your non-sanded grout even after it has already been applied and completely dried. Preparation of the area is important but the end result improves the appearance of your floor or wall.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the grout by scrubbing it with a grout cleaner and a toothbrush. This helps remove any mold or dirt that interferes with the coloring process. Rinse the grout with water once you finish cleaning it and let it dry.

    • 2

Apply an epoxy grout colorant to the grout using either an applicator brush or a clean toothbrush. Rub the colorant into the grout and it turns the grout surface into any color you want.

    • 3

Wipe down the surrounding tiles with a nylon pad soaked in water. This removes any coloring that may have gotten on the tiles. The grout dries fully within a few hours and the new color is water-resistant and long-lasting.
