Installing an Accuvent Soffit Baffle

Even though Accuvent soffit baffle's main use is to supplement your insulation, you can use it to replace your attic's current insulation altogether, if desired. The material is flexible and has a foam-like texture, although it is made from recycled PVC. Accuvent does not absorb water, which helps prevent mold growth in your attic while insulating it.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the area where you are installing the Accuvent soffit baffle. The Accuvent should start near the top of the roof and hang down enough to connect to the rafters along the floor. The Accuvent does not need to touch the tip of the roof. Depending on the height of your attic, you may need to use a ladder to reach the top area of the ceiling. Hold the Accuvent up while you have an assistant measure for you, to ensure your safety while on the ladder.

    • 2

Trim the Accuvent soffit baffle down to fit appropriately. You can trim the Accuvent with a utility blade or sharp knife.

    • 3

Staple the Accuvent to the top portion of the roof, using a staple gun. Use the staple gun to staple along the edges of the Accuvent soffit baffle. The staples should be a few inches apart. Allow the bottom to curve slightly against the rafter.

    • 4

Staple the Accuvent to the rafter. The Accuvent should have a slight curve coming from the rooftop to the rafter and not a snug fit. This allows air to flow.

    • 5

Repeat the above steps until the attic is complete.
