Rain-X Original Glass Treatment is a siloxane water repellant designed to form a lasting bond to glass. When water hits a treated surface, it beads up and quickly slides off of vertical surfaces. Bird droppings and tree resins can be easily wiped off surfaces that have been treated with Rain-X Original. This product also bonds to most polyvinyl-chloride compounds used on today's cars, so it may be effective when applied to a pure PVC railing. Many PVC railings, however, are actually composites that contain wood flour and other chemical ingredients that may be vulnerable to the solvents contained in Rain-X Original, and may display brittleness or surface cracks after repeated use. Check with the manufacturer of your vinyl railing before applying Rain-X Original.
Rain-X X-treme Clean is formulated for many different types of surfaces - glass, metal and vinyl - and it provides an easy solution to grime, grease, and tree resins that accumulate on both cars and on vinyl railings. Simply rub it onto the railing and let it dry; the dirt bonds to the X-treme Clean as it dries, and when you rub it off the dirt comes away with it. Unlike many all-purpose household cleansers, it is effective on outdoor surfaces where exposure to heat and sunlight can turn sticky residues into a difficult to remove tar.
Rain-X Bug & Tar Pre-Wash Gel is formulated for use on all automotive surfaces, including plastic headlight and body panels. This fast-acting cleaner is effective at cleaning off otherwise difficult to remove tar, bird droppings, and accumulated dirt, which makes it an excellent spot-cleanser. The formula contains a high level of alcohol compounds, but it should be safe for use on both vinyl and composite railings because the gel works quickly and exposure times are quite limited.
Rain-X Fast Wax can provide a temporary barrier coating that repels outdoor grit grit and grease that can stain vinyl railings. Thanks to its built-in sprayer, Fast Wax applies more quickly and easily than rub-in waxes. While it should be safe when applied to most solid PVC or PVC-capped railings, Fast Wax contains a high level of petroleum distillates which may be harmful to some composite vinyl railings. To avoid invalidating your railing's warranty, you should consult the railing manufacturer before applying this material.
