Zurn ADA Sink Installation

Zurn ADA sinks are typically found in commercial facilities, such as hospitals and warehouses. The sink is a wall mount unit without a pedestal that connects to the floor. Installing a Zurn ADA sink in your garage or bathroom usually requires adding some support behind the wall. Since there is no pedestal, the wall mounting bracket is the only support for the sink. It is necessary to provide some support between the studs behind the wall, which requires cutting a hole in the drywall.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a mark on the wall at the height you want the rim of the sink to go, less 1 inch. For example, if you want the rim of the sink at 32 inches, make a mark on the wall at 31 inches. The sink bracket is 1 inch lower than the sink rim.

    • 2

Slide a stud finder across the wall and locate the studs on each side of the sink plumbing stubs. Mark the centers of the studs with a pencil. Measure 6 inches above and below the height mark for the sink with a tape measure and draw straight lines at each mark to the stud centers. Draw a straight line along each stud center to join the two horizontal lines.

    • 3

Cut the drywall at the lines with a utility knife. This 1-foot-tall rectangular opening is where your sink bracket support board will go. Pull the cut piece of drywall away from the wall. Try to remove it in one piece to reuse once you install the support board.

    • 4

Measure between the inside of the two studs and transfer the measurement to a 2-by-6 inch board. Cut the board to the measurement with a circular saw.

    • 5

Position the cut board in between the two studs in the wall, with the face of the boards facing you. The board should be flush with the front of the studs. Toe-nail the ends of the board at an angle into the studs with 16d nails and a hammer.

    • 6

Place the cut piece of drywall into the cutout hole over the support board. Drive two drywall screws through each end of the drywall board and into the studs with a cordless screwdriver.

    • 7

Dip a putty knife into a tub of pre-mixed drywall mud and apply the mud to the seam of the cutout drywall. Add drywall tape over the seam and apply another coat of mud on top of the tape. Allow the mud to dry thoroughly.

    • 8

Position the Zurn ADA sink mounting bracket against the wall and lay a torpedo level on top until the bracket is level. Mark the mounting holes onto the wall with the pencil. Drill 1/4-inch pilot holes at all of the mounting hole marks with a drill.

    • 9

Insert 2-inch lag bolts through the slotted holes on the bracket and into the wall. Tighten the bolts with a socket wrench. Pick up the sink and maneuver the rear of the sink over the mounting bracket. Verify that the sink is level with the torpedo level. Remove the sink.

    • 10

Drive in two more lag screws through the top two mounting holes of the bracket with the socket wrench. Attach the faucet to the sink, according to the instructions that came with the faucet. Pick up the Zurn ADA sink and place it on the mounting bracket.
