Drill a small hole into the ceiling to help locate the ceiling joists. A stud finder helps find them as well. The joists help support the projector base, which is necessary to prevent vibration.
Pre-drill six holes into the ceiling joists once you locate them to hang a plywood support panel. Once the holes are drilled into the joists, screw the plywood panel into position using 6.38 inch lag screws. The plywood provides a firmer platform for the projector than does the ceiling alone and this limits projector vibration.
Install a flush mount to the plywood support panel. A flush mount gives you less distance between the projector and the ceiling than a regular mount, leaving only four to six inches of space and this also reduces vibration. Flush mounts are not an option on a cathedral ceiling but are available for both round and suspended ceilings. Follow all fastening instructions for your specific mount because it comes with all the materials needed to fasten it securely.
