How to Put Doors on a Trane XB80

Performing routine maintenance or making repairs to your Trane XB80 requires removing the doors from the unit to access the interior parts. The XB80 has an upper door and a lower door. The lower door locks into the sides of the unit while the upper door simply slides into place. Putting the doors on a Trane XB80 requires installing the bottom door first before installing the upper door. The bottom door is solid with C-clip handles, while the upper door has no handles and is either solid or has vents.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the C-clip handles on the front of the solid door, toward the center of the door. This rotates the locking clips away from the edge of the door.

    • 2

Lift the solid door over the top of the side track channels on the lower half of the Trane XB80. There is a channel on each side of the unit. Align the raised lip on the inside of the door with the channels. Slide the door down the channels until the bottom of the door is flush against the bottom of the unit.

    • 3

Turn the C-clip handles clockwise to lock the door into position. The locking clips rotate behind grooves on the back of the channels.

    • 4

Position the bottom of the upper door over the top of the channel on the upper half of the unit. Slide the door down the channels until it stops. There are no handles for the upper door, so it is necessary to hold the door from the top edge when sliding it into the channels.
