How to Adjust a Louver Door

If your louver doors scrub against the doorjamb when you try to open them, a simple adjustment can take care of the problem for good. Each side of your louver doors has a hinge pin that raises or lowers the doors. By adjusting these pins you can properly position the door inside the frame so neither side rubs against the jamb.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver

Instructions

    • 1

Adjust the bottom corner of the door where it's rubbing against the jamb. Lift the corner of the door so the hinge pin lifts up and away from the mounting bracket on the floor.

    • 2

Slide the door away from the doorjamb and set it down in the floor bracket. By sliding the hinge pin away from the jamb, the door will rest farther from the jamb and open freely. Set the door so it sits about 1/16 inch from the doorjamb when closed.

    • 3

Lift up and push the door hinge pin toward the jamb if the top of the louver door rubs against the doorjamb. Position the door so the top doesn't rub against the pin and is 1/16 inch from the jamb. If the top of the door still rubs against the jamb, loosen the top hinge bracket screw above the door with a screwdriver and slide the bracket away from the door. Tighten the bracket screw with the screwdriver once the door is properly positioned.
