My Kohler Pedestal Sink Is Not Draining

When your Kohler pedestal sink is clogged and stops draining, you have to remove the clog inside of the drain pipes. On Kohler pedestal bases, the drain pipes are inside the pedestal stand on which the sink sits. To access the pipes, you have to remove the sink top and pedestal.

Things You'll Need

  • Wrench
  • Screwdriver
  • Pipe snake

Instructions

Shut off the water behind the sink by turning the valves on the inlet pipes clockwise until you can't turn them anymore. Remove the two faucet lines running from the pipes to the faucet by turning the connectors counterclockwise with a wrench to unscrew them.

Remove the bolts on the screws under the sink rim, behind the bowl of the sink, with a wrench. Lift the sink off the pedestal and set it down on the floor carefully. Unscrew the pedestal bolt on the base of the pedestal and remove the pedestal.

Disconnect the drain trap, the fitting on your drain that has a "U" shape, by turning the trap's connectors counterclockwise with a wrench. Take the trap out and remove the clog. Extract any other material in the drain pipe by pushing a pipe snake into the drain pipe and pulling the material out.
