How to Install Blumotion Drawer Slides

Blumotion drawer slides provide the additional benefit of a slow-closing mechanism. These slides reduce and effectively eliminate noise from opening and closing drawers by preventing the drawer from banging against its frame. These slides also provide a smoother operation, and their overall quality will lead to a longer lifetime. The installation process for these drawers requires concentration to ensure a straight installation so you'll have smooth sliding action and minimal friction on the rails.

Things You'll Need

  • Drawer slide template
  • Tape measure
  • Drill
  • Wood drill bits
  • Saw

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the drawer opening and the overall size of the drawer. Purchase the Blumotion drawer slides that fit for the drawer of your size, getting slides that are slightly shorter if necessary rather than longer.

    • 2

Hold the included Blumotion template over the base of the drawer and mark the attachment screw locations of the three pieces of Blumotion hardware. Remove the template and drill out each hole, not allowing the drill bit to pass through the bottom board of the drawer.

    • 3

Position the other Bluemotion template against the back of the drawer. Mark the space where the groove must be cut for the drawer runner. Use a saw to cut out the groove according to the marking. Mark the positions of the attachment holes that must be drilled for the Blumotion hardware.

    • 4

Position the Blumotion hardware on the bottom of the drawer according to the template. Set the included screws in the hardware holes, passing them through into the predrilled holes in the drawer bottom. Tighten them completely with a drill.

    • 5

Hold the Blumotion hardware to the rear of the drawer in the indicated position based on the template. Set the attachment screws in the holes and tighten them completely.

    • 6

Slide the drawer runners into place in each bottom corner of the drawer opening. Mark the positions of the drawer attachment screws. Remove the runners and drill out each hole. Set the runners in place and attach them with the included screws, drilling until the screw heads are flush.

    • 7

Slide the drawer onto the runners and slide it back and forth to determine if any adjustments need to be made. Make any changes necessary to facilitate smooth operation.
