Repairing a Leaking Hot Tub Jet

Shut off the breaker to the hot tub to prevent the risk of electrical accident. Never attempt repairs on a hot tub without cutting all power to the spa first.

Drain the spa if there is still water in it to give yourself full access to the jets.

Apply 100 percent silicone sealant to the area between the jet and the tub. Spread the sealant around the small gap between the outside of the jet and the inner ring of the tub, using an application tube, and spread it around with your finger. Allow it 24 hours to fully dry. This helps reseal the jet and repairs many leaks.

Inspect the jet and any PVC piping leading to it to look for cracks. Sand down any cracked areas with fine sandpaper once the area is completely dry. Wipe away any loose sand with a rag.

Apply a PVC primer to the area, followed by a thick coat of PVC cement once the primer dries. Spread the cement with the applicator brush included with the container. Give it at least an hour to dry, then apply a second coat for best results.

Mix together epoxy putty in accordance with packaging instructions and rub it over the repaired area to further seal and protect the cracked section. Give it 24 hours to fully cure, then refill the spa and test the jets to see how they work.
