How to Recycle Aseptic Containers

The name "aseptic containers" refers to the multi-layer plastic, paper and metal packaging that usually contains juice, soy milk and other liquids. The most common brand name for aseptic containers is "TetraPak." Though the recycling process was once expensive and time-consuming, the Carton Council (a group of carton manufacturers that includes TetraPak, EloPak and others) has worked to make the recycling of aseptic containers easier and more convenient for consumers. Many communities even pick up aseptic containers at the curbside along with cans, bottles and newspapers.

     Find out if curbside recycling is available in your community by visiting aseptic.org and looking up your state in the bottom right corner of the site.

     If so, simply put the aseptic containers into your curbside recycling bin.

     If not, call your local recycling center and arrange to drop off the packaging. The Coca-Cola company maintains a database of recycling centers that accept aseptic packaging. Call 1-800-888-6488 for more information.
