What Massachusetts Companies Make Solar Panels?

Solar panels use renewable energy from the sun to make electricity that can power your home. Installing them on your home's roof can lower your energy bills and, because they use natural energy, reduce your carbon footprint. Many Massachusetts companies make solar panels, and some offer installation and maintenance services.
  1. Evergreen Solar

    • Based in Marlboro, Massachusetts, Evergreen Solar strives to make eco-friendly solar panels, right down to the packaging. Its employees aim to use less silicon in its panels and fewer carbon emissions during the manufacturing, and the company uses recyclable packaging to ship them. It doesn't use lead, cadmium or cardboard. Recent installations include panels at Logan Airport in Boston. You can see photos of recent projects on residential and commercial buildings on the Evergreen website.

    Konarka

    • Konarka Technologies of Lowell, Massachusetts, holds more than 350 patents on solar panels that its employees have developed. It uses organic photovoltaic technology, which competes with the older silicon panel models that most other companies sell. The company emphasizes the chemistry behind solar panel energy production and is constantly working to create new methods of obtaining more energy at lower costs.

    Spire

    • Spire Solar Corporation of Bedford, Massachusetts, has been operating in the state since 1980. The company installs solar panels around the world and provides all of the necessary equipment for an installation without you having to contract with any other company to complete your installation. "Solar" magazine named Spire the Turnkey PV Manufacturing Line Company of the Year for 2009.
