1 lb hardened pine pitch
Cast iron skillet
1 cup ashes
1/4 cup shredded newspaper

  Add the hardened pitch lumps to the cast iron skillet. Set the temperature to a medium-high heat. Pine pitch lumps can be obtained via craft stores and survival supply outlets. You can also obtain it yourself by slicing the hardened oozing pitch from the surfaces of pine trees in your area.
