How to Adjust the Running Cycle on My Honeywell Round Thermostat

Honeywell round thermostats are one of the most recognizable items found on the interior walls of a home. The Honeywell thermostats utilize a mercury switch attached to a temperature-sensitive spring to operate the home heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC). Once set, the furnace or air conditioner cycles will correspond with the thermostat setting until it is changed. You can adjust the cycles of your Honeywell thermostat without special skills or tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Move the selector switch on the base of the Honeywell thermostat to the “Heat” position if you wish to heat the house and to the "Cool" position if you wish to run the air conditioner.

    • 2

Set the fan mode selector switch to “Automatic.”

    • 3

Adjust the center dial in the Honeywell thermostat in either direction until the red indicator needle is pointing to the desired temperature. The serrated edges of the dial are designed for ease of rotation using only your fingers.
