How to Change the Battery in a Honeywell Comfort Basic 110B Manual Thermostat

The Honeywell Comfort Basic RTH110B is a basic model of thermostat used to control the heating and cooling systems of your house. Unlike more advanced models, the RTH110B cannot be programmed to a schedule. The thermostat requires two AA batteries for power; an indicator on the display helps you keep track of how much power is remaining and tells you when to insert fresh replacements.

Instructions

    • 1

Slide the system switch located on the face of the thermostat to the "Off" position.

    • 2

Press down on the small notch on the top of the thermostat, roughly in the middle, to detach the battery cover.

    • 3

Remove the spent batteries and insert fresh AA replacements, making sure to observe the polarity diagram printed on the back of the battery compartment.

    • 4

Wait while the thermostat performs self tests for 5 seconds. Clip the battery cover back in place and slide the system switch back to "Heat" or "Cool."
