How to Remove the Back From a Totaline Thermostat

Wall-mounted Totaline thermostats have a detachable back cover that protects the wiring connections and battery compartment on some models from damage or accidental changes. You might want to remove the back panel to install replacement batteries or add a dehumidification or other device to the thermostat. Since the back is screwed to the wall, the process simply involves separating the front and back pieces.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the thin slots on top of the thermostat close to each corner.

    • 2

Insert a flat-head screwdriver into each slot and turn it 90 degrees. The screwdriver pries the front cover away from back.

    • 3

Pull the front cover forward a few degrees to release the pins. Lift up to separate the pieces.
