How to Override the Unoccupied Mode on a Trane Unit

The Trane VariTrac unit is a master heating and cooling system with zone control. This unit has settings for occupied and unoccupied modes which allows the system to reduce the heat or air conditioning to 60 degrees Fahrenheit for heating and 85 degrees Fahrenheit for cooling for an unoccupied room or part of the building. This saves you money. If you need to change the heating priority from unoccupied to occupied, you must override the unoccupied setting to allow the system to heat or cool the zone in question.

Instructions

  1. Mechanical Sensor

    • 1

Locate the control panel that controls the zone you are attempting to override.

    • 2

Turn the thumbwheel on the control panel from the "**" position counterclockwise until it reaches the normal set point position.

    • 3

Wait one minute to make sure that the heating or air conditioning kicks on. If you successfully overrode the unoccupied setting, you will hear and feel the air or heat kick on in that part of the building as the unit attempts to heat or cool the area to your normal settings.

    Digital Zone Sensor

    • 4

Wait one minute until the heat or air conditioning kicks on in the formerly unoccupied zone.
